LARKANA, Aug 3: The Anti-Corruption Establishment police of Jacobabad on Thursday arrested an officer of the excise and taxation department.

Assadulah Qureshi, office superintendent at the office of the director, excise and taxation, Larkana, was arrested on the charge of making fake registration of cars.

The case had been registered in 1999 with the Jacobabad ACE against then excise and taxation officer Noor Ahmad Odhano, assistant excise and taxation officer Noor Nabi Shah, Assadullah Qureshi, motor registration in-charge Noor Ahmad Phulpoto, excise inspector Ammanullah and junior clerk Atta Mohammad Khoso.

Sources said the arrested officer was produced in the court of the special judge of anti-corruption here and then sent to the jail.

The officers nominated in the FIR had allegedly made fake registration of 22 cars in 1999.
