LAKKI MARWAT: Terrorists carried out quadcopter strikes on the houses of two policemen in Darra Pezu town here on Thursday night, police said.

They said that terrorists launched firing and quadcopter attacks on the houses of lower head constable Misbah and constable Saboor within the limits of Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station.

According to police, the attacks did not cause any casualties or damage to property. A heavy contingent of police reached the area and launched a search operation.

It may be recalled that two terrorists were killed and one was injured in an exchange of fire with police in the Gandi Chowk area of the district on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the wildlife department foiled a bird smuggling bid and seized Siberian cranes from a passenger bus here on Thursday night.

Divisional forest officer wildlife Kamran Khan said that after receiving information about the bird smuggling attempt, he alerted the wildlife officials posted to the Wanda Banochi checkpost on Indus Highway near Darra Pezu Town.

He said that the wildlife officials intercepted a passenger bus bound for Peshawar from Karachi. “During the search, the officials recovered 25 Siberian cranes from hidden cavities of the bus and shifted the birds to a sanctuary,” he claimed.

The DFO said the birds were being illegally transported to Peshawar from Karachi.
