PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday directed the Bank of Khyber (BOK) to introduce scooter financing scheme for students.
He also asked the bank to upgrade its mobile banking application to improve digital banking services across the province.
He issued these directives while chairing a meeting on the affairs of the Bank of Khyber, according to a statement issued by his office.
The governor’s adviser for finance, Tariq Mahmood Pasha, additional chief secretary (planning and development) Islam Zeb, BOK managing director Hassan Raza and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
The governor was briefed on various proposed financing schemes aimed at providing easy-term financial assistance to farmers, youth, entrepreneurs and other sectors.
Officials highlighted the proposed Ubharta Naujawan, Agricultural Solarisation, Khushhal Kisan and industrial financing schemes as well as progress on the two-phase home solarisation scheme for the province, including the merged tribal districts.
Governor Kundi said that students of universities and other educational institutions should be provided scooters on easy installments through a dedicated financing scheme.
He said that facilitating students with modern amenities remained among the government’s priorities.
“Agriculture is the backbone of the national economy and the province’s development, so financial support for farmers is essential,” he said.
The governor said that shifting agricultural tube wells to solar energy had become inevitable due to prolonged electricity load-shedding in the province.
He also instructed the BOK to upgrade its mobile app at the earliest to ensure faster, easier and more efficient digital banking services for customers. Published in Dawn, November 6th, 2026
