RAWALPINDI: Police have decided to introduce e-ticketing at bus stands to maintain a digital record of passengers through the Travel Eye app.

The police will also gather the record of passengers staying in hotels, guest houses and inns through the Hotel Eye app ahead of the upcoming ICC Test championship series scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi from Nov 9 to 13.

The Travel Eye and Hotel Eye apps are used for digital monitoring of travellers and registration of guests. These will help the law enforcement track visitors and catch wanted criminals entering the city through bus and wagons and staying in hotels, guesthouses, inns and private rest houses, said a police official.

The security measures were decided in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Malik Tariq Mahboob. Secretary Regional Transport Authority and representatives of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, City Traffic Police and other departments participated in the meeting.

The first Test match will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The SSP said that it had been decided to start special police surveillance at bus/wagon stands and to establish a police post inside the general bus stand as part of the foolproof security.

E-ticketing at bus/wagon stands will also be introduced. A record of passengers coming out and going to the bus stands will be compiled besides checking the record of passengers staying in hotels and inns through the apps.
