KARACHI: A fast-moving truck ran over and killed a teenage student and injured his friend in North Nazimabad on Tuesday.

Police said that Huzaifa Asif, 16, and Hamza, 15, were returning from their private school on a motorbike when a loaded truck hit them.

As a result, Huzaifa died on the spot, while Hamza was taken to a hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

The driver responsible for the fatal accident, Rawal Husain, was arrested and the heavy vehicle impounded.

In another incident, a nine-year-old boy, Uzair Irshad, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Steel Town.

Police said the boy, along with his tutor, was heading to a seminary on a motorbike when an unidentified vehicle hit their two-wheeler near Wireless Gate and sped away.

In the third incident in Sultanabad, Docks police said Constable Sami Ejaz, 25, of Shaheen Force died in an accident near Intelligence Colony on MT Khan Road.

They said the victim was travelling in a car with his friend when its tie rod broke and the vehicle went out of the driver’s control and hit a footpath, leading to the policeman’s death.
