LAHORE: A leading multinational beverage company’s Pakistan operation has received the Sustainability Award in the sustainable cities and built environment category.

The award was announced at the 29th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC), organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). It recognises a public-private partnership under which the company worked with capital city authorities to build, what is described as, the country’s first plastic road.

The award was presented by Danish ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen and Romina Khurshid Alam, the prime minister’s coordinator on climate change and environmental coordination. Dr Faisal Hashmi, the company’s senior director for public affairs, communications and sustainability for the Pakistan and Afghanistan region, received it.
