KASUR: An aunt was arrested after the body of a missing minor boy was found in the fields near his home on Tuesday.

Eleven-year-old boy, son of a vegetable vendor and a 4th class student at a village school, was on sick leave on Monday when he went missing in the morning. His body was later found in the fields near his house.

Police shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital for post-mortem while a forensic team collected evidence. Later, police arrested Asia Bibi, wife of the child’s paternal uncle Mustafa. The arrest dispelled the impression that the boy was sexually assaulted before murder.

The victim was buried at the village graveyard.

DROWNING: A woman is feared to have drowned in Lower Bar Link Canal near village Jaja in the limits of the Pattoki Police Station.

According to Rescue 1122, the woman, later identified as Maryam, 33, plunged into the canal after a dispute with her family over a domestic issue.

Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and launched a search. The rescuers, however, halted the operation due to darkness till next morning.
