State land worth millions reclaimed in Swabi

SWABI: Officials claim to have reclaimed state land worth millions of rupees, as an anti-encroachment operation continued across Swabi district the other day.

Encroachments have been removed along the Swabi-Jahangira Road in the district headquarters, and the Swabi-Mardan, Swabi-Topi and Swabi-Muneri roads.

Speaking to media persons, deputy commissioner Nasrullah rejected the impression that the operation against encroachments spared the influential people.

“No one is allowed to build structures on government land, and similarly, no one is allowed to occupy footpaths in markets,” he said.

In Zaida city, action was taken against vendors, who had occupied the main road.

The deputy commissioner said: “If a vendor is seen in front of a shop in the district headquarters or other markets, that shopkeeper will be arrested because he takes money from the vendor and allows him to stand in front of his outlet.”
