NAWABSHAH, Aug 1: More than 15 villages of the Daur taluka came under water following heavy rainfall in the area on Tuesday. The flooded villages are: Haji Yousuf, Gorchani, Dholu, Sher Mohammad Brohi, Haji Raheem Gorchani, Jwali Khan Rind and Saheb Khan Rind.

Residents of the villages have migrated to safer places.

Saline drain near Daur town was filled with rain and irrigation water.

It is being feared that the town could be flooded if the level further increased.

Daur taluka nazim Khurram Yar Mohammad Brohi said that the TMA administration had arranged dumpers and bulldozers for strengthening embankments of the drain.

He said that the water level of the drain was dangerous which had increased after rains and release of irrigation water.

POWER OUTAGE: Nawabshah city and its adjoining areas plunged into darkness on Monday night after power broke down.

Hesco officials attributed the power failure to tripping of 132kv main supply line from Dadu.

The electricity resumed after couple of hours but it remained discontinued in many areas.

Dozens of protesters held a demonstration outside the Hesco Manuabad office and raised slogans against Hesco officials.

Some of the protesters pelted the Hesco office with stones. As a result, windowpanes of the office were smashed.

Protest: Passengers of the Shalimar and Sukkur Express held a demonstration on Tuesday at the Nawabshah railway station in protest against officials of the Pakistan Railways.

They said that they were in miserable condition as trains were stopped in Nawabshah instead of Hyderabad.

They said that it was responsibility of the Pakistan Railways to provide them alternate arrangement.

The railway authorities shifted the passengers of the Sukkur Express in the Shalimar Express to Hyderabad after several hours.
