KHAIRPUR, Aug 1: Leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Mr Nisar Khuhro, has said that the government has failed to maintain law and order in the province. He said that people had been compelled to commit suicide as there had been constant increase in poverty and unemployment.

Speaking at a seminar on “Charter of Democracy” in Mehrabpur and gathering of party workers in Halani and Mauli Dino Rajpar village on Tuesday, he said that members of the ruling party were looting Sindh by creating separate groups.

He said that Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were befooling people by staging new dramas every day.

He said that the sources of livelihood of people had been put to an end by demolition Sindhi villages in Karachi.

Mr Khuhro said that the creation of the city government in Hyderabad and other areas was actually aimed at bifurcation and destruction of Sindh.

He said that the government would also announce formation of a new province in future.

He said that the PPP would continue struggle against all anti-Sindh schemes and construction of Kalabagh dam.

He said that PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif signed the charter of democracy in order to strengthen democracy.

He said that teachers’ organisations had been banned and jobs were being distributed on choice of the ruling party and its coalition partners.

Mr Khuhro said that jobs should be provided on the merit basis.
