KARACHI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Saturday arrested a man for his alleged involvement in harassing and blackmailing a woman through objectionable videos, WhatsApp messages and threatening voice messages.

A spokesperson said that the suspect was arrested in a raid conducted in the Badar Commercial area of the Defence Housing Authority.

He said the suspect allegedly subjected the complainant to online harassment, intimidation, and blackmail through digital communication platforms.

In this regard, a case had been registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca).

Earlier on Friday, the NCCIA arrested a man for allegedly depriving a woman of approximately Rs4.45 million by making empty promises of marriage on a matrimonial app.

The agency said that the suspect had allegedly obtained the money through online bank transfers and subsequently threatened the woman to circulate her doctored photographs on social media to extort further money.
