LOWER DIR: A two-day book fair organised at the Government Postgraduate College, Timergara, concluded on Friday, attracting students and other visitors.

The district youth affairs office organised the fair on the directives of the district administration, in collaboration with Sikandar Islam Services, a book supplier based in Balambat.

District youth officer Jehanzaib Pasha said around 800 titles were displayed at the stalls, covering a wide range of subjects, including BS-level course books, arts, history, science, computer, and information technology.

Students and visitors from different areas showed keen interest in the fair. They visited the stalls, browsed through books on various subjects and purchased titles of their choice at discounted prices.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, additional deputy commissioner Dr Izza Arshad highlighted the importance of reading, saying books were a person’s best friend and helped broaden one’s thinking and perspective. She urged students to benefit from books on diverse subjects in addition to their prescribed textbooks.

College principal Prof Shujaatullah appreciated the initiative and thanked the district administration and the District Youth Affairs Office for arranging the event for students.
