SAHIWAL: The district police claimed on Thursday to have arrested nine individuals, including three women and six alleged false witnesses, for registering five separate fake cases of gang rape, rape and sodomy.

Police said that in one such case, Farid Town Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ghulam Jilani investigated a gang-rape case, registered on May 14, 2025, on the complaint of Shazia Parveen, a resident of 82/6-R.

During proceedings before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Shafiq, Shazia’s husband stated that the case against suspect Fayyaz Ahmed and others was falsely registered.

The accused were subsequently acquitted, and Shazia Parveen was declared an accused in the false case.

In another incident, Ghala Mandi Sub-Inspector Muhammad Dawood Akram reported that Haleema Bibi had lodged a sodomy case against Ali Nawaz on June 30, 2026, involving her daughter. Later, she allegedly reached a compromise after receiving money, leading to the acquittal of the suspect. Consequently, Haleema Bibi was declared an accused by the police.

Similarly, Kameer police Sub-Inspector Nadeem Safdar reported that Muqaddas Bibi reached a compromise with suspect Shehzad in a rape case filed on April 5, 2026, resulting in his acquittal. Thereafter, the complainant and witnesses were booked.

In a separate abduction case registered on May 19, 2026, Harappa police Sub-Inspector Nazir Ahmad stated that the alleged abductee, Atiya Bibi, testified before a judicial magistrate that the case lodged against her brother-in-law was false. As a result, complainant Muhammad Owais and witnesses Abdul Rauf and Shameer Ali were nominated as accused.

In another such instance, Kassowal Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ali reported that Asad Mughal and Sarfraz had registered a false sodomy case involving a 12-year-old in Chak 118/12-L of Chichawatni tehsil. They later retracted their statements and were subsequently declared accused by the police.

In the Ghaziabad police jurisdiction, Kulsoom Bibi of Chak 8/11-L had allegedly compromised with suspect Muhammad Bilal, leading to his release. The complainant and witnesses were later nominated in the case.

The Farid Town, Ghala Mandi, Harappa, Kassowal and Ghaziabad police have registered these five cases under Section 22-A (2) of the Anti-Rape Investigation and Trial Act, 2021, and initiated investigations. Three women and six alleged false witnesses have been arrested.

YOUTH ABDUCTED: A case was registered against a woman and her two accomplices for allegedly abducting the son of a local landowner from Chak 173/9-L of Sahiwal tehsil on Wednesday afternoon.

According to details, landowner Muhammad Ashiq and other villagers were harvesting the paddy crop when, at around noon, his son Salman received a phone call and he went home to bring tea. While returning, a woman identified as Iqra, wife of Muhammad Aslam, allegedly lured him and, along with two unidentified accomplices, forcibly bundled him in a car and drove away.

The Ghaziabad police registered a case on the complaint of Muhammad Ashiq.

No arrests were made till the filing of this report.
