DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The residents of Rodikhel blocked the main Bannu Road at Sadra Chowk here on Thursday during a protest against the alleged abduction of two tube well operators.

Also, a protest camp was set up outside the Prova Hospital to demand the safe recovery of some kidnapped employees of the Chashma Sugar Mills Unit-II.

Local sources claimed that unidentified men abducted tube well operators Asmatullah and Samiullah from near the Sadra Sharif area on Wednesday night.

The abductions triggered a protest by residents, who blocked the Bannu Road to traffic and demanded immediate recovery of the two.

The road blockade caused difficulties for commuters and others travelling between Dera Ismail Khan and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, residents of Prova tehsil set up a protest camp outside the Prova Hospital for the safe recovery of the sugar mills employees who were abducted from two buses a week ago.

A large number of people attended the camp and demanded immediate recovery of the abductees.

They said the protest would continue until the demand was met.

Police said efforts were under way to trace the abductees and their kidnappers.
