BANNU: Police and members of the police peace committee on Wednesday killed three terrorists in a joint operation in the Saidkhel area here.

Police said that the joint operation was conducted following an improvised explosive device (IED) blast that killed a local tribal elder and injured three others in the same area on Tuesday.

Following the blast, police and members of the police peace committee launched a joint operation in the area during which three terrorists were killed.

The details about the identities of those killed in the operation were not immediately available.

Police also launched an investigation into Tuesday’s blast.

The operation was launched after an IED targeted a vehicle carrying four people.

According to police, Malik Sabeel Khan was travelling in the vehicle, along with his brother, Malik Inar Khan, Attaur Rehman and Hayatullah, residents of Bezankhel, when it was targeted with the IED.

Malik Inar Khan was killed on the spot, while three people sustained injuries in the blast that also destroyed the vehicle.
