LAHORE: A man allegedly shot dead his father-in-law and mother-in-law and injured two other female relatives critically in Wapda Town on Saturday night.

Identified as Mirza Ali Yar, the suspect had fled the scene soon after the incident while police teams were dispatched to trace and arrest him.

A police official said that the armed man scaled the walls of his in-laws’ house and opened indiscriminate firing following a domestic issue.

As a result, he said, Sami (63), Kalsoom (58) and his sister-in-law Ramiza and wife Khalida suffered multiple bullet injuries.

They were immediately rushed to a local hospital where Sami and Kalsoom expired while the condition of others was also stated to be serious.

The SP Sadar and other senior police officers reached the site along with forensic experts.

To a question about the motive behind the armed attack, the police official said the suspect was demanding a share of his in-law’s property.

There were also some reports that his in-laws were unhappy over his mysterious character when they came to know that he was involved in some criminal activities.

Following these issues, the official added that his wife had left him and was living at her parents’ home.

He said that police have expanded the scope of investigations against the suspect following the statements of his in-laws regarding his involvement in criminal activities.

The Sattokatla police shifted bodies to the city morgue for autopsy and lodged a murder case against the suspect.
