PESHAWAR: Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government on Local Government and Communications and Works, Asif Rafiq, said on Sunday that Peshawar, as provincial capital, must serve as a model of cleanliness for all other districts across the province.
Speaking at a meeting with Water and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar (WSSP), he said that elevating sanitation standards in the capital would create a positive ripple effect throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
WSSP chief executive officer Quratul Ain Wazir briefed the adviser on ongoing operations, highlighting that emergency measures launched by the company have already produced visible improvements and earned public appreciation.
Mr Rafiq directed WSSP staff to further accelerate their efforts to improve the city’s overall sanitation infrastructure.
Reaffirming that providing citizens with a clean and healthy environment is a top government priority, he pledged full institutional support and necessary resources to help WSSP overcome operational challenges.
He assured that the administration will focus on boosting institutional performance to ensure Peshawar’s waste management and sanitation system becomes efficient, organised, and sustainable for the long term.
