SWAT: Police here the other day intensified a district-wide crackdown on vehicles and motorcycles fitted with fancy number plates, flashlights, and tinted glass, as well as unregistered vehicles, officials said.
The operation is being carried out on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Umar Khan.
Police established checkpoints at various locations across the district under the supervision of SHOs concerned. Vehicles and motorcycles found violating the law were checked, and action was taken against offenders.
The DPO said that compliance with the law was the responsibility of every citizen and warned that police would continue taking strict action against those violating traffic and vehicle regulations.
He made it clear that the use of tinted glass was prohibited and that no permit or authorisation allowing tinted windows carried any legal validity.
The DPO urged citizens to remove tinted windows, flashlights and fancy number plates from their vehicles and ensure that their vehicles were properly registered.
He said public cooperation was essential for maintaining law and order and establishing a peaceful and orderly society in Swat.
