KARACHI: A fast-moving trailer ran over and killed a young man and a teenage girl on Mai Kolachi Road on Saturday.

Docks SHO Waqas Kaiser said the victims were coming from Seaview Beach on a motorcycle when the trailer hit their two-wheeler near the NLC crossing and ran them over. They sustained critical injuries and were taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced them dead.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson identified the man as Kashif Amir, 21, while the girl, aged around 19, remained unidentified.

The officer said the two deceased were friends.

The trailer driver fled the scene, leaving behind the heavy vehicle which was impounded by the police.

The officer said the victims’ parents told the police that they did not want to pursue any legal proceedings.

In a separate incident, an unidentified young man was killed when an unknown vehicle hit his motorcycle on the National Highway near Quaid-i-Azam Park in Steel Town on Saturday, rescue services said. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
