SAHIWAL: An insurance company employee has been booked on charges of raping a married woman and extorting cash and jewellery worth Rs1.06m from her through blackmail at Chak 92/6-R.

The complainant alleged that about three months ago she visited the insurance company’s office in Azan Heights, Sahiwal, to activate her insurance policy. She successfully opened the policy.

During the visit, she came into contact with a company employee who subsequently began contacting her on her mobile phone on the pretext of providing policy-related information and assisting with documentation and deposit requirements.

The complainant stated that about two months ago, the suspect expressed a desire to visit her residence regarding the policy matter. After being allowed to visit, he allegedly found her alone in the house and raped her. She alleged that the suspect fled the scene after she raised an alarm.

The matter remained unreported initially due to fear of social stigma and reputational damage. However, the complainant alleged that the suspect continued to blackmail her, threatening to disclose the incident to her husband.

Under this pressure, she claimed, the suspect extorted jewellery and cash worth Rs1.06m from her. She further alleged that he continued demanding additional money, prompting her to approach the police. Farid Town Police registered a rape and extortion case on the complaint of the woman.
