CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has said governor’s rule and emergency have been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
He alleged the PTI government in KP had miserably failed to resolve public problems, curb terrorism, eliminate corruption and provide relief to inflation-hit people.
Sikandar Sherpao said this while addressing a party gathering held to mark party’s 14th foundation day at the hujra of QWP leader Israr Nazim Advocate in Mandani area of Tangi tehsil here. Party leaders, workers and local elders attended the event.
Sikandar Sherpao said Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao had established the party as a platform for public development, peace and protection of Pakhtun rights. He said the QWP remained committed to the ideals of the late Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao and would continue to raise its voice for the rights of the Pakhtun people at every forum.
He said a political party’s popularity was not determined by the number of seats it held in the assemblies but by the place it occupied in the hearts of its workers.
Paying tribute to party workers for standing by the party during difficult times, he thanked those who attended the foundation day gathering as well as those who could not, saying they had continued to uphold the party flag and support its political struggle.
Criticising the prevailing political and security situation in the province, the QWP leader said developments in the past and current state of affairs were unsatisfactory. He argued that an emergency became necessary when circumstances went beyond control.
Referring to terrorism incidents, the deaths of police personnel and sacrifices made by civilians, he said the government had failed to demonstrate a clear and effective policy for restoring peace, leaving people facing insecurity and uncertainty.
On corruption, Mr Sherpao alleged that individuals who had accused rival political parties of corruption were themselves facing allegations involving billions of rupees corruption.
He said the provincial government was responsible for restoring peace, eliminating corruption, addressing underdevelopment and reducing the burden of inflation, but failed to deliver the desired results in these areas.
