BANNU: The Kalam Bibi Women University has introduced a range of professional degree programmes, including Allied Health Sciences and Nursing, to equip girl students with practical skills and improve their employment prospects in both public and private sectors.
The initiative aims to help graduates explore diverse career opportunities, particularly in private clinics, hospitals and other healthcare facilities, in case they face difficulties in securing government jobs.
Briefing the media here the other day, the university’s Registrar Tanveerul Haq said that the university had 15 departments with more than 1,500 girl students enrolled.
He said the primary objective of establishing the university was to provide women from the region with better access to higher education and a supportive academic environment where they could develop their educational and professional capabilities.
Alongside conventional academic programmes, the university is placing particular emphasis on professional degrees to enable graduates to pursue multiple employment opportunities and achieve financial independence, he added.
The registrar said practical training had been made an integral part of the curriculum for students enrolled in Allied Health Sciences and Nursing programmes.
Under the arrangement, students are required to complete one month of clinical practice during each semester, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in hospitals and other relevant healthcare institutions.
To facilitate this training, the university has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with hospitals affiliated with Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs), Bannu Cancer Hospital, Al-Khidmat Hospital and various Category-D hospitals in Bannu.
These partnerships are intended to provide students with opportunities to learn in professional healthcare settings and develop the practical competencies required for their future careers.
Tanveerul Haq highlighted the university’s achievement in launching a department of Aesthetic and Skin Care Technology, saying that it was the first of its kind among universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
