BANNU: Three youths, including two brothers, were killed as a motorcycle collided with an oil tanker near Malik Adda on the Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road on Sunday night.
Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the bodies to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Safadullah, 28, and his brother, Hamid, 20, residents of Jhandukhel. The third deceased was identified as Baitullah, 20, also a resident of Jhandukhel.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old blood feud between two families over a property dispute has finally come to an end following sustained efforts by Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) coordinator Malik Farooq Khan Wazir.
The feud between the family of Rahimullah Jan, alias Habib, and that of Imtiaz Ali had claimed 13 lives and left eight people injured over the past 26 years. The dispute had also rendered properties belonging to the two families inaccessible to each other.
Mr Wazir spent around 18 months working to bridge differences between the two sides and bring them to the negotiating table. His efforts eventually bore fruit when both families accepted each other’s reconciliation proposals and agreed to end their longstanding enmity.
The reconciliation is being viewed as a significant step towards promoting lasting peace in the area and preventing further loss of life. The ADR mechanism played an important role in facilitating dialogue, rebuilding trust and helping the families reach a mutually acceptable settlement.
Speaking to Dawn, the ADR coordinator said the end of the 26-year-old feud after 18 months of sustained efforts demonstrated that even deeply rooted family and property disputes could be resolved through effective mediation, patience and dialogue.
