LOWER DIR: Police arrested four suspected members of an inter-provincial gang for robbing a family of millions of rupees and a vehicle at gunpoint in the Odigram area in Balambat tehsil on August 5.

Speaking at a press conference, district police officer Syed Talal Ahmad Shah said that police recovered the looted cash and vehicle. He said that police also recovered the weapons used in the crime.

SP investigation Rashid Ahmad and DSP headquarters Ibrahim Khan were also present.

Police presented the arrested men before the media and handed over the recovered cash to the family.

Terming the arrests a breakthrough, the DPO said efforts were underway to arrest the remaining suspects and that all available resources were being used to bring those involved in the robbery to justice.

He added that checks at entry and exit points of the district had been tightened to restrict the movement of criminals after the deputy commissioner imposed Section 144.

The official said that those behind a recent double murder would also be brought to justice.

He said that police would spare no effort to maintain peace and take action against outlaws in the district.
