NAROWAL: The body of an Indian national that was recovered from the River Ravi a couple of days back has been handed over to India’s Border Security Force (BSF), on the request of Indian authorities during a flag meeting.

Eng Aurangzeb, the District Emergency Officer, Narowal Rescue 1122, stated that on Oct 12, the body of an unidentified man was retrieved from the River Ravi, near the Kartarpur Bridge in Shakargarh tehsil by an emergency services team.

The body, he said, was transported to the Narowal District Headquarters Hospital.

He said on Oct 15, 2026, a flag meeting was held at Kartarpur at the request of the BSF, attended by Pakistan Rangers Company Commander Rana Ashfaq.

He said that during the meeting, the BSF identified the deceased as Sukhwinder Singh, an Indian national. Following a request from the BSF, Pakistani officials, after completing legal formalities, handed the body over to the Indian authorities, he added.
