LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways (PR) on Thursday inaugurated the newly refurbished Millat Express at the Faisalabad Railway Station.

PR Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Hafeezullah formally opened the refurbished rake.

“We have refurbished all three rakes of Millat express, inaugurating one of them at Faisalabad which runs between Lalamusa and Karachi via Faisalabad,” the CEO said while talking to Dawn.

“We have a plan to refurbish and upgrade rakes of all passenger and freight trains,” he added.

Speaking to media representatives and passengers, the CEO said under a directive of Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, the PR was undertaking practical measures to upgrade passenger services, improve the condition of coaches, and ensure a cleaner, more comfortable, and passenger-friendly environment.

Following the inauguration, the CEO inspected the refurbished rake and directed the officers concerned to ensure the proper upkeep of coaches, regular maintenance of onboard facilities, and high standards of cleanliness.

The refurbishment of the rolling stock, including the locomotives, is essential to control derailments and other non-fatal and fatal accidents at the railway network, especially the Main Line-1 (Peshawar to Karachi).
