ISLAMABAD: A 23-year-old girl was injured while resisting gang-rape attempts by robbers in a park in the capital.

Police sources told Dawn that the incident occurred at Ankara Park, where three armed robbers intercepted the girl while she was walking in the park and held her at gunpoint. The robbers looted her mobile phone and overpowered her.

According to police sources, after robbing her, the robbers tried to drag the girl into a nearby wooded area. She resisted the attempt, leading to a physical altercation. The robbers assaulted her, causing multiple injuries, including wounds to her face, before her continued resistance forced them to flee the scene.

Later, she approached the police, and a case was registered.

Last week, a 26-year-old girl was abducted and subjected to gang rape in the area of Gangal. In connection with the incident, the police registered a case under section 376 (Punishment of rape) of the PPC.

The incident took place when she was returning home from her workplace. Some ‘vagabonds’ of the area spotted her when she reached Gangal stop from her workplace late in the evening.

The vagabonds overpowered her, took her to a nearby wooded area, subjected her to gang rape and escaped.

Subsequently, the police were approached and informed about the incident; the victim was shifted to the hospital for medico-legal examination. Later, a case was registered.
