PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced that it will establish a dedicated sub-office in Dera Ismail Khan to strengthen accountability, ensure regional transparency and address the growing number of corruption grievances of people.
Retired Lt Gen Nazir Ahmad, the chairman of NAB, said in a statement that the decision was made in response to a significant surge in corruption cases and a high volume of formal complaints reported from Dera Ismail Khan division and its adjacent districts.
“Regional stakeholders, civil society members and citizens have repeatedly voiced concerns regarding transparency and administrative malpractices in development projects and local departments,” said the statement.
It said that recognising the urgent need for direct oversight, NAB leadership reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to eradicate corruption from every tier of society. The proposed sub-office will serve as a crucial regional hub, enabling swift processing of complaints, direct interaction with local complainants and more aggressive enforcement actions against corrupt elements. The new sub-office will make it easier for locals to file complaints, submit evidence and seek justice without needing to travel to distant regional headquarters.
