MIANWALI: Mianwali police claimed that two proclaimed offenders, wanted in several cases of heinous crimes, were killed on Monday during an “encounter” in the hilly area in the jurisdiction of Chakrala police station.

As per police sources, they received a tip-off that a group of proclaimed offenders (POs), wanted in a number of heinous crime cases, including murder, attempted murder, terrorism, police encounter, dacoity and kidnapping, were hiding in the hilly area of Chakrala.

On the instructions of DPO Waqar Azeem Kharal, a team headed by Daud Khel SDPO Asad Abbas Khan and Isa Khel SDPO Ashraf Ali, along with Elite Force personnel, conducted a raid in the hilly area of Chakrala.

On noticing the police team moving towards their hideout, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire, that was returned by the policemen. The sources say that the exchange of fire between the two sides continued intermittently for about two hours.

As soon as the firing stopped, the area was searched by police, finding bodies of two POs, later identified as Maskeenullah and Naseemullah, both residents of Daud Khel, while their unknown accomplices managed to escape taking advantage of the hilly terrain.

The police say they seized the weapons used by the dead suspects and shifted the bodies to hospital, while a search operation is underway to arrest their fleeing accomplices.

The DPO appreciated the police team for conducting a successful operation.
