ISLAMABAD: July 28: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Friday said the country was fully committed to the war against terrorism and a peaceful Afghanistan was in the best interest of Pakistan and the region.

During a meeting with German and Polish media delegations who called on him in the ministry, the minister said a war-like situation in Afghanistan was a matter of great concern for Pakistan.

National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) Director General Brig Javaid Iqbal Cheema and Interior Ministry’s Joint Secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan were also present in the meeting.

The minister said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Germany and Poland. “Our relations are based on common perceptions on international and regional matters of mutual interest,” he said.

He said the government and the people of Pakistan were grateful for the assistance provided by Poland in the wake of the earthquake in Pakistan.

He said Pakistan was desirous of developing greater cooperation with Germany at all levels.
