Chambers pulls out of London GP

Published July 29, 2006

LONDON, July 28: Sprinter Dwain Chambers, the fastest Briton over 100m this year, will not be running in Friday's London Grand Prix because of a thigh injury.

Chambers, who suffered the injury at the European trials in Manchester two weeks ago, was due to face joint world-record holder Asafa Powell.

Although Chambers had pulled out, he may still be picked for the Gothenburg European championships from August 7 to 13 when the British team is confirmed following Friday's event. —AFP
