KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Friday inaugurated a state-of-the-art sports complex and a student dormitory at the Iqbal Campus of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET).

Addressing the gathering, the minister said that future engineers must demonstrate their capabilities at both national and international levels through hard work, dedication and professional expertise.

He urged young people to move beyond dependence on government jobs and use their skills and abilities to create new employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

He said that young engineers specialising in information technology, petroleum and other key sectors could bring distinction to the country. After acquiring quality education, students must take responsibility for shaping their own futures, as opportunities at home and abroad increasingly depend on professional competence and specialised expertise.

He said that he was pleased to see the facilities provided to students by the university administration. Before attending the ceremony, he visited the sports complex and reviewed the sports facilities, while he also saw the students’ hostel rooms and the impressive auditorium.

He said that the university administration was playing an important role in serving students and providing them with the best facilities to pursue their education in a conducive environment.

MPA Qasim Siraj Soomro and Sindh government spokesperson Ganhwar Khan Isran also spoke.

Earlier, DUET Vice Chancellor Dr Samreen Hussain welcomed the guests and conducted a tour of the Sports Complex, briefing them on the facilities available for various sporting activities.

The newly developed complex offers a range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including cricket, futsal, basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball.

The newly established dormitory also provides residential facilities to cater to students’ accommodation needs.
