Suspect held for attack on Nadra official

GUJRAT: Police claimed to have arrested one suspect and booked five others for allegedly assaulting a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) official in Daulat Nagar, a small town near Gujrat city.

Gujrat Nadra Assistant Director Rizwanullah, in his complaint to the Daulat Nagar police, alleged that Afzaal Ahmed of Dhanwal and Hamid Raza of Umarwal villages along with four unidentified accomplices barged into the local Nadra office and attempted to jump the line.

He claimed that when Desk Incharge Awais Abbas asked them to follow the queue, the suspects allegedly started thrashing the official, hurled life threats and subjected him to physical torture.

The suspects also locked the Nadra office from the outside and started instigating the public against the officials. The official claimed main suspect Afzaal insisted that Nadra officials attended to his wife and children without a token.

Police registered a case against two nominated and four unidentified suspects and arrested one suspect, while another suspect obtained a pre-arrest bail from a local court.

ADCR: The Punjab government has transferred Gujrat Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Waqas Safdar Sikandari (a grade 18 officer of PAS) and posted him as ADCR, Chiniot.

Chiniot ADCR Ahmer Ali has also been transferred and posted as Gujrat ADC (headquarter) relieving Ms Khaizran Ali, ADC enforcement, from the additional charge of ADC headquarters.

Awaiting posting, fl-lt Ahmed Haroon retired, a grade18 officer of PAS, has been posted as Gujrat ADCR with immediate effect.
