PESHAWAR: Security forces killed nine terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan, state media reported on Wednesday.
According to state-run Pakistan Television, IBOs were carried out in several areas of North Waziristan, including Palangzai, Nadeem Kot, and Kot Khazri, eliminating nine terrorists, including four “important terrorist commanders”.
It added that several hideouts were destroyed and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended security forces for their successful operation, state-run APP reported.
In a statement, the president said the elimination of nine terrorists was a manifestation of the professional capability and bravery of the security forces.
He emphasised that every conspiracy by the foreign patrons of terrorists and their local facilitators would be thwarted.
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the successful operations reflected Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to completely eliminate terrorism from the country.
The prime minister lauded the officers and personnel of the security forces for their commendable services and sacrifices to eradicate terrorism.
He reiterated the government’s resolve to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists seeking to create unrest and undermine peace and stability in the country.
