ABBOTTABAD: The station house officer (SHO) of Mirpur police station and other policemen were named in the first information report (FIR) over the alleged killing of an employee of Ayub Teaching Hospital.

Police registered the FIR at Mirpur police station under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased’s father Sardar Abdul Rasheed against SHO Ahsan Khan, constable Hamza and other unidentified police personnel.

Sardar Arif, 46, was allegedly shot dead on October 5. His murder triggered protests. The complainant alleged that police officials opened fire during an operation following a dispute involving Afghan nationals in the locality.

He alleged that SHO Ahsan Khan directed the policemen to take action, following which police personnel opened fire, hitting Sardar Arif. He alleged that his grandson was beaten up and taken away from the scene before being released.

The FIR alleged that police personnel removed the deceased’s body from the scene and it was not handled with due respect. The postmortem examination recorded multiple firearm injuries, including entry and exit wounds involving the arms, forearm, thighs, calf, knee and lower leg.

The medical officer concluded that Sardar Arif died from massive blood loss caused by multiple injuries, leading to shock and death. Meanwhile, a large number of people attended the funeral prayer for the slain person.
