Two children killed in house fire

NAROWAL: Two children died after suffering severe burns when a fire broke out in a store room of a house containing hay.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that children had set the dry hay on fire while playing in a room on the first floor of the house in Qasimpur village in Shakargarh tehsil.

He said that when the rescue teams reached the spot, they found both children, identified as Waleed Afzal (4) and Arsalan Ali (4), engulfed in flames. He said the teams brought the fire under control and the children were retrieved from the room, but they had sustained severe burns. The spokesperson said the critically injured children were immediately rushed to the Narowal DHQ Hospital, however, they succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.

After completing legal formalities, rescue officials and hospital authorities handed over the bodies to their families.
