SAHIWAL: The Anti‑Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested a man for allegedly selling forged e‑stamp papers of various denominations to customers.
As per the ACE officials there were reports of counterfeit e‑stamp papers circulating in different areas.
The ACE received a complaint from one Hamza Farooq, a resident of Street No 6, Mohalla Noor Park, alleging that the suspect, Shoaib Akhtar, was involved in the scam.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was using bogus attorney stamps and making fakeentries in his register, as well as online. The complainant alleged that the suspect sold him a forged e-stamp paper apparently valuing Rs1,200, but on verification its value turned out to be Rs500.
The matter was reported to ACE Circle Officer Arshad Zaman Wattoo, who confirmed the complaint after checking the original value of the tampered e‑stamp paper.Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 420, 468, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on Hamza’s complaint. ACE officials say the suspect has been arrested.
WOMAN DIES: A middle‑aged woman allegedly died after collapsing in the ablution area (wuzu khana) of the Baba Farid’s shrine in Pakpattan city on Saturday evening.
Social media reports suggest the woman slipped due to the wet marble floor while performing ablution.
However, Rescue 1122 officials say the woman, later identified as Zahida Parveen, 42, a resident of Pakpattan district, had a medical history and she vomited blood before collapsing.
They denied reports of any head injury caused to the woman because of falling on the marble floor. The sources added that the patient was shifted to the emergency ward of the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital, where she died.
