ISLAMABAD: The capital police chief reviewed administrative affairs, logistical support, facilities and welfare measures for police officials at a meeting.
During the meeting with officers of the Headquarters Division at the Police Lines Headquarters, Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Captain Mohammad Sohail Chaudhry directed officers to perform their responsibilities with full dedication, commitment and professionalism.
He announced that officers and officials demonstrating outstanding performance would be rewarded, while accountability would be ensured in cases of negligence, inefficiency and poor performance. He said merit, transparency, discipline and professional responsibility must remain the guiding principles in all matters.
The IGP highlighted the vital role of the Headquarters Division in providing logistical and administrative support to the police force. He directed officers to further improve the management of the police store (Kot), mess hall, inventory and the timely distribution of uniforms. He also stressed the effective use of available resources and timely fulfillment of the force’s operational and administrative needs.
He said that providing quality facilities to those who worked tirelessly to protect the lives and property of citizens was an important responsibility. He said all possible measures would be taken to address their welfare and professional needs.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Islamabad police through efficient administration, reliable logistical support and improved welfare facilities. He directed all officers to maintain high standards of professionalism, responsibility and performance in carrying out their duties.
498 held in police crackdown
During the last two weeks, 498 suspects were arrested in operations against drug peddlers, illegal weapons holders, proclaimed offenders, habitual offenders, court absconders and other criminal elements.
Police have intensified its crackdown against drug peddlers, resulting in the arrest of 73 suspects. Police recovered 13.6kg of hashish, 4.4kg of heroin, 12.4kg of ice and 892 bottles of liquor from their possession.
Similarly, 111 suspects involved in the possession and display of illegal weapons were arrested. Police recovered three Kalashnikovs, four guns and rifles, 11 daggers and 94 pistols of different bores from their possession.
Moreover, 314 proclaimed and other wanted accused were arrested.
To curb criminal activities and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property, the police conducted 114 grand combing and search operations in different areas of the capital.
During these operations, 6,328 individuals and 2,617 houses were checked. Police also conducted inspections of 271 hotels, 640 shops, 3,036 motorcycles and 1,206 vehicles.
For further verification and investigation, 382 suspicious individuals, 328 motorcycles and 10 vehicles were shifted to the relevant police stations.
