ISLAMABAD: A memorial reference was held at the Nori Auditorium to pay tribute to the former chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Parvez Butt, and honour his lifelong service to Pakistan.
PAEC Chairman Dr Raja Ali Raza Anwar paid rich tribute to the former chairman and highlighted his services to the commission and the country, said a press release.
Dr Anwar said Parvez Butt was a technologist, engineer and visionary leader who laid the foundations of safety culture at PAEC by establishing the Directorate of Safety in 2002. He said he could rightly be termed a pioneer of operational integrity at nuclear facilities.
Dr Anwar said Engineer Parvez Butt was among the unsung heroes of the “Road to Chaghai”. He also highlighted initiatives he conceived and founded, including PAEC General Hospital and PAEC Foundation, as well as the establishment of SES and other engineering setups.
Former colleagues and senior officials, including Niamat Ali Javed, Dr Inam ur Rehman, Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik, Aslam Umer and Zia ul Hassan Siddiqui, shared their memories and paid tribute to his professional commitment, leadership and service to the country.
A documentary on his life and career was also screened at the reference.
