DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The district administration on Friday launched a crackdown on housing schemes operating without no-objection certificates (NOCs), demolishing boundary walls, main gates and access roads of six schemes in the district.

The action was carried out on the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government by Assistant Commissioner Dr Mohammad Hamid Siddiq in collaboration with the tehsil municipal officer, the Land Use and Building Control Authority and other relevant departments.

The operation targeted unapproved housing schemes located along CRBC Road, Bannu Road and Diyal Road in Dera tehsil.

During the operation, boundary walls, main gates and main approach roads of six housing schemes were demolished, while other structures erected in violation of regulations were also removed.

The administration said the action was meant to protect citizens from being lured into buying plots or investing in housing schemes that lacked the required approvals and NOCs.

It advised citizens to avoid purchasing plots or making investments in unapproved housing schemes and to verify the legal status, approval and relevant NOCs of a scheme before entering into any transaction.

According to the administration, sale and purchase of plots, transfers and other related transactions in the identified illegal housing schemes have been prohibited. Legal action would be taken against those found violating the restrictions, according to it.

The district administration said the crackdown on illegal and unapproved housing schemes would continue and that relevant laws and government directives would be enforced to protect the interests of citizens.
