LAHORE: The Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has sought an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to present the industry’s concerns and constructive proposals regarding the draft Auto & Auto Parts Policy 2026-31.

In its communication, PAAPAM acknowledged the premier’s directive under which a high-level committee is currently conducting a clause-by-clause review of the draft policy.

While welcoming the review process, the association emphasised that finalising the policy without meaningful industry consultation could create serious risks for domestic manufacturing, employment generation, localisation and national self-reliance.

The association says that the reviewed draft must be shared with industry stakeholders before its submission to the IMF and the cabinet. It stressed that manufacturers and allied sectors possess valuable technical and practical expertise that can help strengthen the policy framework and ensure that it supports industrial growth and the long-term sustainability of Pakistan’s automotive ecosystem.

PAAPAM reiterated its commitment to working closely with the government to ensure that the policy becomes a cornerstone for industrial development, employment creation, localisation and technological advancement.
