QUETTA: Security forces killed six terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in the Sanni area of Balochistan’s Kachhi district, security sources said on Thursday.

According to the sources, security forces launched the operation after receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

The forces utilised quadcopters during the raid, resulting in the destruction of the terrorists’ hideouts and the recovery of a large quantity of arms and ammunition.

Separately, unidentified armed men attacked a police station in the Bostan area of Pishin district late on Wednesday night.

Police sources said around three dozen men attacked the police station and set ablaze two vehicles parked outside.

However, the police retaliated and a heavy exchange of fire continued for several hours.

“Terrorists could not succeed in entering the police station. The policemen fought a gun battle with the attackers, forcing them to leave,” a senior police officer said.

He added that additional policemen and Anti-Terrorism Force personnel reached Bostan to help their colleagues fight the attackers.

Officials said no casualties were reported in the heavy exchange of fire.

“The policemen as well as the building remained safe in the gun battle,” Babar Yousafzai, an aide to the provincial home department, said. He refuted social media reports about casualties.

“Our Jawans bravely fought the terrorists and foiled all their attempts.”

Checkpost set ablaze

Meanwhile, unidentified men attacked a police checkpost on the Coastal Highway in Pasni and set it on fire.

Official sources confirmed the attack and said armed men arrived on four motorcycles and took away weapons carried by the policemen deployed at the post.

No casualties were reported in the attack.

Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to trace the elements involved in setting the police post on fire.
