LAHORE, July 26: The Peshawar police on Wednesday informed a Supreme Court full bench that the two children abducted from the NWFP capital were recovered from Jalalabad in Afghanistan.

A DIG and the Peshawar city police chief submitted before the bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, that they found a clue that Usman (10) and Mohsin (5) had been sent to Jalalabad by kidnappers. They submitted that two tribal elders were requested to go to Afghanistan to bring back the abducted boys, and they returned with the children only last night.

The children were reportedly abducted in connection with a monetary dispute by nine persons who were booked by the Peshawar police in the offence of kidnap for ransom. The court took a suo moto notice of the abduction on the basis of a newspaper report.

Observing that the entire executive machinery of the country was under a legal obligation to obey the apex court orders, the chief justice appreciated the Peshawar police for the recovery of the children.—Correspondent
