TOBA TEK SINGH, July 26: Local bureaucracy was criticised during the district council meeting for its alleged failure in implementation of various resolutions passed by the house and thus undermining its mandate.

Some of the members in their speeches at the meeting deplored the district council resolutions were not being implemented by the government officers concerned, which, they said, was tantamount to undermining the house’s mandate.

The meeting, which was presided over by district naib nazim Chaudhry Sultan Ahmad, demanded that the district nazim and DCO should take serious notice of the situation and order the officials concerned to implement the resolutions passed by the house.

The meeting, through a resolution, also urged Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi to order the launch of rural support programme in Kamalia and Toba Tek Singh tehsils as it was already being carried out in Gojra tehsil.

A union council nazim, Abdul Rashid Gujjar, alleged no punitive action was taken against the officials responsible for irregularities pointed out in the drug stores of Kamalia THQ hospital and Pirmahal RHC by a house committee. The convener assured the nazim that the officials concerned would be asked to take action in this regard.

KILLED: A farmer was killed in an exchange of fire between two rival groups at Chak 288-JB near Janiwala.

Reports said Yaseen Jat and Ranjha Khan were in litigation over some dispute. On Wednesday, the groups entered an armed clash in which Ranjha Khan received bullet injuries and died on way to a hospital.

Saddar police have registered the case and was raiding for the arrest of the accused.
