SIALKOT, July 25: The Kotli Loharan police have failed to arrest alleged rapists of daughter of a tea-stall owner.
Talking to the press here, Mujahid Husain Awan of Marakiwal accused the police of using delaying tactics in the rape case of his daughter. He alleged that the police were reluctant to arrest the influential accused.
He said the accused were threatening his family with dire consequences for reporting the matter to the police.
Reports said about two weeks back, Musawwar and Faizan had abducted Awan’s daughter `S’ from a village street when she was going to a local shop to buy some daily-use items. The accused took her to their friend Ghulam Mustafa’s house where they allegedly gang-raped her.
The family threatened to commit suicide in front of the Chief Minister’s House if police did not arrest the accused.
When contacted, city DSP Saleem Sadiq said the accused were on pre-arrest bail and the Kotli Loharan police were investigating the case on merit. He said justice would be provided to the victim family.
The family has sought justice from the president and chief justice of Pakistan. — Correspondent
