Call to endorse letter

Published July 25, 2006

LAHORE, July 24: The Concerned Citizens Forum has appealed to civil society organisations to endorse the letter written by opinion leaders and stand up for ensuring the supremacy of parliament, neutrality of the judiciary, competency of executive and independent election commission with dignity and grace.

Endorsing the letter unanimously in its meeting held here on Monday, the forum also called for pursuing of national reconciliation with a renewed vigor. The forum members were of the opinion that a government-opposition confrontation would become inevitable if the political situation was allowed to drift. The would then aim at eliminating each other rather than seeking a mutually agreed way out. This would start a chain reaction where event would overtake and mortgage the future of the country.
