CAIRNS, July 22: A frustrating cricket tour of Northern Australia continued on Saturday for Pakistan A with its one-day match against Queensland Bulls at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns washed out.

Only 18.5 overs were possible after Pakistan A won the toss and sent Bulls in to bat, with a number of heavy showers sweeping across the ground and causing three separate disruptions to the innings.

The match was progressively reduced, first to 34 overs then 31 overs and finally 28 overs per side. Queensland was 3-108 off 18.5 overs when play was finally abandoned, with Love top-scoring in his first game in one-day colours for more than a year.

Love, who scored a Test century at the ground against Bangladesh in 2003 and 201 not for Queensland against New Zealand in 1997-98, finished with 53 from 58 balls while left-hander Brendan Nash was 28 not out.

Pakistani pace bowler Wasim Khan took 2-29 from six overs.

Pakistan A endured an exasperating week when a series of matches against New Zealand A at Fretwell Park in Cairns were successively rescheduled and abandoned due to a wet ground.

Pakistan A will meet Australia A in a Twenty20 on Sunday afternoon at Cazalys, with New Zealand A taking on Queensland in morning game of double-header. —Agencies
