PESHAWAR: Three persons, including a proclaimed offender, were killed, while two police officials sustained injuries when a police party, shifting an outlaw, came under attack near the Northern Bypass area on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Monday night, officials said.

They said that the proclaimed offender, Mumtaz, was shifted from Bahrain through Interpol and he, along with two police officials, landed at the Islamabad International Airport. They added that the outlaw was being shifted to Peshawar when the police party came under attack.

“The outlaw, along with two SHOs, was injured. He, however, died while the SHOs were shifted to the hospital,” a police official said, adding that the two attackers were also killed in the encounter.

A statement issued by the city police said that a fresh contingent reached the site, while a search operation was underway.

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad visited Lady Reading Hospital and enquired about the injured SHOs.
