PESHAWAR, July 21: NWFP Education Minister Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani has said that the federal government should wait for comments of the provinces on the new curriculum before presenting them to the president.

He said the NWFP had received a copy of the curriculum but according to press reports the federal education minister was going to present it to the president without waiting for the province’s views.

He was of the view that it would have been better for the federal government to have evolved a consensus on the matter and waited for the provinces’ comments.

The provincial education minister has directed all executive district officers to immediately fill all the teachers’ vacancies in the educational institutions.

During a meeting held here on Friday, he directed the officials to ensure that the appointments were made on merit.
