GUJRAT: A 33-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured in an accident between a passenger coach and an oil tanker near Fatehpur town on Saturday.

Initial investigation revealed that the accident occurred after the oil tanker’s driver dozed off and hit the coach.

Rescue officials said that four passengers were injured in the accident, however, Yasmeen Karamat (33) died before she could be shifted to the hospital.

A four-year-old boy, Ibrahim Naveed, and his parents Naveed Iqbal and Shaista Naveed were also injured in the accident.

The injured were shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH), where the condition of Ibrahim was said to be critical, whereas his parents were discharged after treatment.

Meanwhile, in another incident near Kotla Arab Ali Khan town of Gujrat, an oil tanker caught fire.

Rescue officials said that an oil tanker carrying at least 4,000 litres of petroleum products was passing through the Kotla-Bhimber road when it suddenly caught fire.

A Rescue 1122 firefighting team reached the scene and extinguished the fire.
